Gwyneth Paltrow’s sponsored Instagram post raises eyebrows appeared on www.news.com.au by Lexie Cartwright.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest social media photo has been roasted by her followers, who were left scratching their heads over the baffling post.

The Oscar-winning actress turned wellness empire entrepreneur, who has a rumoured net wealth of up to $US200 million, has been accused of “selling her soul” with a “cringe” sponsored post for compression product brand, Copper Fit.

Paltrow, 50, who has been a brand ambassador since 2021, shared a professional portrait of herself on Instagram, which showed her wearing fingerless compression gloves from the business as she glowingly declared they had been “life-changing” for her sore muscles and stiff joints.

For someone who, seemingly, doesn’t need to dabble in the oft-mocked world of sponcon posts, it’s fair to say fans were surprised by the move, as they lit up the comments section calling out the Marvel star.

“GURL are you in financial trouble? These sponcon posts are a really tough look,” questioned one.

“Is someone holding her hostage? Even her face says help me,” said another.

“Super weird and creepy post,” a third wrote.

“Is this an SNL skit?” another quizzed. “Like a nurse on her way to a handball tournament,” a user joked.

Another follower referenced the building criticism on the post, writing, “Broke my neck running to the comments.”

Paltrow, who shot to fame in the 1996 film Emma, has previously courted controversy for her obscure advice via her wellness company Goop, which she founded in 2016.

She was accused of spreading “misinformation” in 2021 after revealing the strict keto diet she took up to combat long Covid symptoms, which went against medical advice that those with long-term symptoms should eat a balanced diet with a variety of food.

In 2013, she copped backlash after questioning if the sun’s rays were actually harmful.

“We’re human beings and the sun is the sun — how can it be bad for you?” she pondered to British Cosmopolitan. “I don’t think anything that’s natural can be bad for you.”

Paltrow doubled down on this stance in a video for Vogue in 2021, in which she revealed she doesn’t like to wear much SPF because it contains “harsh chemicals”.

“There are a lot of really harsh chemicals in conventional sunscreen so that’s a product I really want to avoid,” she said.

The Cancer Council strongly recommends daily use of a broad spectrum SPF30 or higher, with at least one teaspoon per limb, one for the front of the body, one for the back and one for the head (face, ears and neck), with reapplications every two hours.
