SAN ANTONIO — It’s a packed weekend, with two comedy superstars and and the annual festival that lets you create chalk masterpieces along Houston Street. Here’s a look:
John Mulaney: Hotter-than-hot comic Mulaney is bringing his “From Scratch” tour to town. Among other things, he’s chatting about the intervention that sent him back to rehab and his experiences as a new dad. 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday, Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, 100 Auditorium Circle. $60-$130, tobincenter.org.
San Antonio Philharmonic: The San Antonio Philharmonic’s second program will be conducted by Garrett Keast and feature guest violinist Nancy Zhou. It will include works by Florence Price, Max Bruch and Antonin Dvorak. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, First Baptist Church of San Antonio, 515 McCullough Ave. $30-$65, saphil.org.
“Chicana/o Historias”: Gabriela Mendoza-Garcia Ballet Folklorico will perform a set of dances exploring the history of the battle for farmworkers rights, the creation of the Brown Berets and the role art played in the Chicano movement of the ’60s.

Gabriel Iglesias: Stand-up superstar Iglesias is returning to San Antonio for a one-night-only gig. Chalk it Up: At this annual festival, all sorts of folks create chalk masterpieces along Houston Street. The theme is the San Antonio River. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Houston Street between Presa and Flores. Free, artpace.org/chalk-it-up.
Lost Gonzo Band: Day three of the Gruene Music and Wine festival will be capped by a performance by the Lost Gonzo Band, which was at the heart of Austin’s cosmic country movement backing Jerry Jeff Walker and Michael Martin Murphey. 8 p.m. Saturday, Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Road, New Braunfels. $40, gruenehall.com.

We The Kingdom: This multigenerational family Christian band is celebrating the release of a self-titled album packed with high-energy songs of worship. The show also will feature singer-songwriter Cory Asbury.
