300+ Weeks: The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’ Joins Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ & Frank Ocean’s ‘Blonde’ in Billboard 200 History Books appeared on thatgrapejuice.net by ..::That Grape Juice.net::.. – Thirsty?.

7 years after landing atop the Billboard 200, The Weeknd‘s third studio effort, ‘Starboy,’ continues to shine on the all-genre album chart.

Planted at #42 on this week’s edition of the hitlist, ‘Starboy’ – supported by Hot 100 #1 hits ‘Die For You’ and its title track as well as the top 5 hit ‘I Feel it Coming‘ – comes as the singer’s longest-charting project to date and is still racking up miles on its success journey.

Having seen its name printed on the Billboard 200 for a 309-week stay (as of time reported), the 4x Platinum project becomes only the fourth studio album by Black male singer to enjoy such lengthy tenancy.

Behind King of Pop Michael Jackson‘s untouchable ‘Thriller‘ (594 weeks), only Frank Ocean‘s ‘Blonde‘ (350 weeks) and Bryson Tiller‘s ‘TRAPSOUL‘ (339 weeks) can boast such duration among Black male vocalists. Uniquely, The Weeknd becomes the first of the exclusive group to be born outside of the U.S.

Among all solo Black male performers who own albums with this level of staying power, rappers Kendrick Lamar, Drake, J. Cole, and Lil Uzi Vert are the only others to make the cut.

While Lamar has blockbuster efforts ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ (571 weeks) and ‘DAMN‘ (338 weeks) and Cole has ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’ (461 weeks), Uzi has ‘Luv is Rage 2‘ (319 weeks). Drizzy leads the pack among all Black male performers with a whopping four projects that meet the threshold: ‘Take Care‘ (553 weeks), ‘Nothing Was the Same’ (488 weeks), ‘Views‘ (386 weeks), and ‘More Life‘ (325 weeks).

At the rate Kid Cudi‘s ‘Man on the Moon’ (296 weeks) and Kanye West‘s ‘Graduation‘ (296 weeks) are going, however, they will likely join the fold before the year’s end.
