Birmingham isn’t Hollywood, New York City or Atlanta. But the Magic City is making strides as a movie mecca, attracting filmmakers who work with major stars (Morgan Freeman! Bruce Willis!) and celebrated character actors (Sean Astin! Noah Schnapp!).
Here are seven movies that filmed in the Birmingham metro area in recent years, with an emphasis on gripping action, psychological thrills, romantic entanglements and more.
