Sony has accomplished a lot. Having a large collection of films, music records, and electronics under one roof is a feat in itself. However, PlayStation is the company’s most successful product to date.

This is because of how the company brought PlayStation to the European market 27 years ago. It was a type of revolution, as, during that time, the $20 billion video game market was at a low. But soon, the fate of consoles and gaming both were to change overnight.

Sony entered the gaming market 27 years ago

On September 29, 1995, the gaming industry saw a huge revolution. The reason behind, a gaming console that was soon going to take over the video game market with its 3D games in the era of 16-bit graphics. Although Nintendo N64 was also released on the same day as PlayStation, it later became clear that Sony can’t be stopped that easily.

Thus when BBC Archives recently shared a news report from 1995, with the caption, “#OnThisDay 1995: Electronics giant Sony had eyes on the UK games console market, with PlayStation due to launch in just over a month. Can it really compete with industry behemoths Sega and Nintendo?” fans were really happy to know that their favorite console is going to turn 27 this year.

Many fans even asked jokingly how it might have turned out for Sony. This was because they knew that it is very difficult for any gaming console in the past two decades to defeat the electronic giant in the market.

Fans are very supportive of their favorite gaming console. This can be seen even for PlayStation, where the fans are highly thankful for the games and the memories that the console has given them.

Notably, the competition between Nintendo and PlayStation is not a very surprising thing to know. Even fans had been very competitive about the fact and posted many comments to prove it.
