Kate Winslet finally answers why her Titanic character didn't share door with Leo DiCaprio appeared on www.marca.com by LW.

Kate Winslet, who played Rose DeWitt in the classic romance film Titanic alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, has revealed once and for all what would have happened if her character had helped Jack Dawson get on the door.

One of the most criticized movie endings of Hollywood has definitely been Titanic.

Many argue that in one of the last scenes of the movie, where the luckiest passengers were rescued, DiCaprio’s character gives a door for Rose to be on and saves her from hypothermia.

Winslets’ character could have given Jack some room but did not.

DiCaprio has stayed away from the discussion. Winslet, however, opened up about the scene.

Could Jack and Rose have survived on the same door?

After a lot of debate, Winslet was asked about it and she confirmed what many believed, they would both have drowned because of the area of the door.

I don’t f—ing know. That’s the answer, is that I I don’t f—ing know!” Winslet said, before she dug deep to put an end to the discussion.

“One thing I can honestly tell you, ” she said. “If you put two adults on a standup paddle board it becomes immediately unstable.”

Winslet elaborated: “I actually don’t believe that we would have survived if we had both gotten on that door. It would not have been a sustainable idea.

“So you heard it here for the first time. Yes, he could have fit on that door, but it would not have stayed afloat.”

James Cameron on Rose-Jack debate

The movie’s director James Cameron has addressed the debate and called it silly as he was following a script and Jack had to die for the story to make sense.

While being interviewed by Vanity Fair, Cameron mentioned, “I think it’s all kind of silly, really, that we’re having this discussion 20 years later.”

On the 20th-anniversary event of the film, Cameron continued, “But it does show that the film was effective in making Jack so endearing to the audience that it hurts them to see him die.

“The film is about death and separation; he had to die. Had he lived, the ending of the film would have been meaningless.”

Titanic myth busted

The Titanic debate is the most requested explanation in Mythbusters‘ history.

According to Adam Savage and Jaime Hyneman, who host the show, no other scenario even gets near in the amount of requests.

Cameron was a guest while Savage and Hyneman explained that the door would have saved them both.

Rose could have saved Jack, but the point was for him to die, and now fans know what Wiinslet thinks. DiCaprio should be the next to speak on the topic.
