RuKart, an agritech startup based in Mumbai, has raised an undisclosed sum from Mumbai Angels, according to a statement from the company. The funds will be used to bolster its marketing and sales teams, expand operations, and increase production capacity.
Mumbai Angels’ CEO, Nandini Mansinghka, has expressed her support for RuKart, emphasizing the significance of agriculture in the economy and the need to prioritize the industry. RuKart, which aims to reduce post-harvest loss and promote sustainable practices in the fruit, flower, and vegetable sector, has been lauded for its innovation, capital efficiency, sustainability, and use of technology. The funding from Mumbai Angels is expected to drive RuKart’s growth and help it achieve its objectives.
RuKart’s founders, Gunavant Nehete, Sharayu Kulkarni, and Vikash Jha, have stated that the company aims to create an environmentally sustainable and cost-effective farming ecosystem for small plot holders cultivating fruits, vegetables, and flowers on less than 0.5 acres of land. They intend to achieve this through their affordable and decentralized green innovation – the Subjee Cooler. RuKart’s mission is to reduce post-harvest losses in the developing world’s fruit, vegetable, and flower sector from 30% to below 5% by 2030.
In May 2019, RuKart Technologies (rukart.org) was established by Vikash Jha, along with his IIT Bombay peers, Sharayu Kulkarni and Gunvant Nehete. The company was founded without any external funding and relied on bootstrapping to get started.
