MURFREESBORO — I wish everyone could be able to experience Tennessee 4-H Congress at least once as a 4-Her.
It is an amazing educational opportunity for students in 9th-10th grade. There are many great activities done at Congress, such as going to Capitol Hill and holding a mock legislative session in the House of Representatives and the Senate, enjoying lunch on the General Jackson showboat and meeting state legislators.
Being the 75th anniversary, the 2022 4-H Congress was one to remember and the largest one to date. The lessons learned about the Tennessee government will last a lifetime. Visiting Capitol Hill was very beneficial for learning about how part of the state government works. The 4-H Congress theme was “Shaping the Future Together.” This theme was seen throughout the whole trip, from the mock session to meeting the representatives and other 4-H members from almost every county in Tennessee. We had a formal Citizenship Banquet where Gov. Bill Lee spoke, and we recognized many valuable supporters of Tennessee 4-H. Overall, this trip was very informative and beneficial for all 4-Hers that went.
