A gravity hill also referred to as a magnetic hill, mystery hill, gravity road, or anti-gravity hill, is an area or street where the layout produces an optical illusion, making a downhill slope appear to be an uphill slope. Because of this, a car left out of gear will appear to be rolling up against gravity.
Hundreds of gravity hills are recognized worldwide and there’s one in the state of New Jersey that has captured the interest of locals and visitors alike. Keep reading to learn more.
Located just a short distance away from Trenton, the village of Titusville is known for its scenic location along the Delaware River but this small community actually has another more obscure claim to fame as well.
Pleasant Valley Road is home to a strange phenomenon and if you haven’t made the trip to this gravity hill, it’s definitely worth the drive.
Drive along Pleasant Valley for about a mile off the exit from Route 29 and you’ll come across the area pictured below.
Once you find the sweet spot in the road, put your vehicle in neutral. Once you do this, you will start rolling back up the hill while picking up speed. Before attempting this, be sure to stay safe and place your hazards on.
