Luke Combs Teases Studio Version Of “Tattoo on a Sunburn,” From Forthcoming Album ‘Gettin’ Old’ appeared on www.whiskeyriff.com by Whiskey Riff.

Just in time for warmer weather…

Luke Combs is teasing the studio version of “Tattoo on a Sunburn,” which he co-wrote with Ray Fulcher, Ben Hayslip and Dan Isbell.

He’s actually shared an acoustic clip of before, and the lyrics take a nostalgic look back at a lost summer love, with memories brought up by the permanent reminder on your arm that you drunkenly got during that summer fling.

But of course, what seemed like a good idea at the time ends up being only a painful, fading reminder of what he had that summer:

“We spent the whole week out on that pier
She said, Boy, I think I love you
I said I love you too
We ended up drunk at some old ink shops
She said, Get my name
I said, Hell why not
She didn’t have to work too hard to talk me into
A tattoo on a sunburn”

It will be included on his forthcoming fourth studio album Gettin’ Old, which is due out everywhere on March 24th:

“Tattoo on a Sunburn. March 24.”

And it’s my opinion that his shirt gave him extra special singing powers for this particular studio day, too (not that he needs that, though, of course)…

Luke has already put out three singles from the forthcoming, aforementioned record, including “Love You Anyway,” the lead single “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old,” and most recently, the longtime fan-favorite “Joe.”

He revealed the full tracklist a few weeks ago, which also includes a cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” in addition to an Eric Church co-write called “My Song Will Never Die.”

The next pre-released single fans will get to hear drops on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, which is “5 Leaf Clover.”

And he actually just dropped the full acoustic video of “Tattoo on a Sunburn” earlier today, so make sure you check that out while you’re here, too:
