China’s Xi Jinping likely to hold talks with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky after Moscow visit: Report appeared on indianexpress.com by The Indian Express.
Chinese President Xi Jinping will likely hold talks with Ukraine president Volodymyr Volodymyr Zelensky after his visit to Moscow next week to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to The Wall Street Journal.
This will be the first time the Chinese President will hold talks with Volodymyr Zelensky since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Earlier in March, Brigadier General Pat Ryder, Pentagon Press Secretary, said, “There are indications that China is contemplating lethal aid to Russia in its war against Ukraine.”
Ryder said, “If China were to provide aid, lethal aid to Russia it would significantly or has the potential to significantly extend this conflict and again, support Russia’s aim of eliminating Ukraine as a country.”
After the war between Russia and Ukraine entered its second year, China called for a ceasefire between the two countries and issued a 12-point proposal to end the conflict.
The proposal urged the end of Western sanctions imposed on Russia, measures to ensure the safety of nuclear facilities, the establishment of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians, and steps to ensure the export of grain after disruptions caused global food prices to spike.
Since the war began, China adopted a neutral position, but has never criticised the Russian invasion. China has also accused the West of provoking the conflict and “fanning the flames” by providing Ukraine with defensive arms.
