Melissa Joan Hart Reveals Why Masked Singer Was Her “Worst Nightmare” appeared on screenrant.com by ScreenRant.
The Masked Singer season 9’s Lamp was revealed to be Melissa Joan Hart, and she now shares all of her fears related to the show. Melissa impressed panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger with her rousing rendition of “Venus” by Bananarama. She and UFO managed to dethrone Dandelion, who was Alicia Witt. Melissa then went head-to-head with UFO during the Battle Royale. They both sang powerful versions of “Rocket Man” by Elton John, but the panelists decided that UFO should advance to the next round. All of the panelists guessed Melissa correctly except for Ken, who thought she was actress Michelle Williams.
In an EW interview, Melissa revealed her Masked Singer fears. She confessed, “It is literally my worst nightmare to try to stand up and sing in front of people. But I also absolutely love a challenge. And I always think you only regret the things you don’t do in a lot of ways.” Melissa also said that the performances of her friends who have done the show–Joey Lawrence, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Hayley Orrantia–inspired her to feel like she “needed to do this…I’m not going to die if I do this…this isn’t the kind of fear that’s dangerous. This is the kind of fear that’s fun.”
Melissa Joan Hart Reveals Biggest Fear After Masked Singer
Now that her Masked Singer season 9 experience is over, Melissa admitted another fear. She said, “I don’t want people to think I was taking myself too seriously or that I thought that I was going to make some kind of secondary career out of this. I’m not trying to launch a country album here in Nashville, you know?” However, The Masked Singer was just her way of “conquering fear and having some fun.” She shared that she still has a fear of singing, even though she has received “good feedback.” Melissa concluded by saying, “So I’m not terrified maybe anymore, but it’s definitely not something I want to go out and glorify.”
Melissa was a ’90s teen queen, starring on Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. As an adult, she starred with Joey Lawrence on the hit sitcom Melissa & Joey. Although she is known for her comedic ability, she hasn’t sung publicly. As Lamp, Melissa held her own against Alicia’s Dandelion, helping to dethrone the talented singer, along with UFO. She also performed well against yet-to-be-unmasked UFO in the Battle Royale. Melissa should be proud of facing her fears and having a great time on stage. It was thrilling to see her sing after she was unmasked because it was something new for the legendary star.
The Masked Singer season 9 has had some of the best reveals in the history of the show. They include Dick Van Dyke (Gnome), Sara Evans (Mustang), Howie Mandel (Rock Lobster), Debbie Gibson (Night Owl), Grandmaster Flash (Polar Bear), and Michael Bolton (Wolf). In addition, Malin Akerman (Squirrel), Lele Pons (Jackalope), Alexis Bliss (Axolotl), Holly Robinson Peete (Fairy), George Wendt (Moose), Christine Quinn (Scorpio), Dee Snider (Doll), and Alicia (Dandelion), have been unmasked. These are some of the biggest stars that have ever appeared on The Masked Singer. Melissa was certainly in good company as she lit up the stage as Lamp.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
