TBWA\Media Arts Lab Elevates James Taylor to Lead Global Design | LBBOnline appeared on www.lbbonline.com by TBWA\ Media Arts Lab Los Angeles.
TBWA\Media Arts Lab, Apple’s bespoke global creative agency, has promoted James Taylor to global head of design, reporting directly to Media Arts Lab’s chief creative officer, Brent Anderson.
As global head of design, James will oversee all design systems at Media Arts Lab offices worldwide — in Los Angeles, London, Miami, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo — and drive the education and integration of the agency’s design philosophy across all departments.
“Design has always been at the core of brand expression for Apple,” said Brent. “And James has spearheaded a renewed focus on and rigour with protecting the soul of the brand while also adapting it to the spaces and shapes our work must take as we move forward. I am thrilled to see how the team he’s built will further create impact for Apple.”
Since joining the agency in 2021, James has been instrumental in expanding the agency’s design capabilities. He has brought together world-class designers and conceptual thinkers to work across all Apple products and services.
“I joined Media Arts Lab because I saw a unique opportunity to work with the world’s most design-forward brand. There was an exciting challenge to bring simple and impactful design again to the core of Apple’s campaigns. This challenge then evolved into thinking about ways to remove barriers and truly integrate design into the creative process”, said James. “Design is a mindset, not a department. I am eager to partner with Brent and our international hubs to marry this philosophy with our creative work and bring integrated design leaders and global perspectives to Apple.”
Before joining Media Arts Lab, James had been a creative director at Jones Knowles Ritchie. He led teams in creating notable campaigns, such as the rebrand for Dunkin’, and overhauls for global clients, such as Foot Locker, Jack Daniels, SVA, UNICEF, and Stella Artois.
James’ work has been recognised by leading design-industry awards, including the Type Directors Club, the Art Directors Club, The One Show, Cannes Lions, the Clios, D&AD, the One Screen Short Film Festival, and others.
