Serena Williams‘ childhood coach reveals ‘GOAT qualities’ Serena had at 12 appeared on www.tennisworldusa.org by Dzevad Mesic.
Coach Rick Macci has identified “GOAT qualities” Serena Williams possessed at the age of 12. Macci, who was famously Serena and Venus Williams’ childhood coach, is widely praised for the early development of the Williams sisters.
The Williams sisters later went on to become all-time greats. “@serenawilliams at age 12 was super funny, super nice, super happy and trust me – super mean. Goat qualities already in the oven for the Compton Comet,” Macci tweeted.

Serena Williams appears to be retired for good
During the US Open, Williams never really fully closed the door on the possibility of playing beyond the US Open.
After the Us Open, Williams hinted several times that she could return to tennis. In February, Williams made a deeply honest admission as she confessed that initially it was very hard for her to stay retired. “I for sure feel more at peace now.
It’s interesting. I think I feel torn because I’m still able to play at a very, very, very high level. With that being said, I always wanted to leave the game playing at a very high level. But it’s hard because it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I could still play, and I could still do all that stuff.’
But I’m inch by inch leaning away, inch by inch embracing it,” Williams told E! News. One of the biggest reasons why Williams had a hard time walking away from pro tennis is her belief that she can still play at a high level.
“Actually, I did play the other day, and it’s just like, ‘There’s no way I shouldn’t be playing professional tennis. Like, there’s literally no excuse.’ But I mean, I guess there is an excuse, right? It’s hard because when I’m playing I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m pretty good at this. I can continue to do this,’ which not a lot of people can say,” Williams said.
