PlayStation 5 players rejoice as latest software beta update lets you mute start-up ‘beep’ appeared on www.videogamer.com by VideoGamer.com.
Sony has announced the release of a new set of software beta changes to the PlayStation 5 and aside from some much needed QoL improvements, this update has introduced another important enhancement that has Sony console fans rejoicing.
This is because according to SIE senior vice president Hideaki Nishino, you will now be able to mute the PlayStation 5 beep that you hear whenever you start the console up. In a lengthy message shared through the official PlayStation blog, Nishino revealed that “you can now mute or adjust the volume of the PS5’s beep sound when turning it on or off, or putting it in rest mode.”
The frustratingly loud opening noise, which might as well be a blaring alarm with how it announces your intention, has predictably pleased a majority of the player base. Over on Reddit, a user named ShoddyPreparation had this to say about the welcome change: “Holy shit. You can finally turn off the start up beep. Late night gamers who live with their SO rejoice!” Another commenter named goldnx then said: “The beep sound meme has finally been addressed 17 years later.”
Some, however, are asking for another key software update as fleakill asked: “Can I turn off the white light? I hide my console behind my TV because it’s distracting in a dark room,” to which Gemannihilator replied: “I just wish the PS5 had a night mode-like feature like the Xbox does. I hate the bright white light and pulsing orange lights.” Metal64Game then finally added: “Same with the controller. You can dim the light but you can’t turn it off? Such bullshit.”
Of course, the option to adjust the PlayStation 5 beep sound isn’t the only improvement that’s arrived as this update also introduces several other changes like a second controller for assistance, support for compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices, a handful of social feature enhancements, and more. As always, you’ll be able to check out all of these enhancements through PlayStation’s extensive blog post.
In other news, Microsoft console players seemingly aren’t happy as the Xbox community isn’t pleased with the new Home dashboard makeover.
