NYC Health + Hospitals today announced that U.S. News and World Report in its annual “Best Hospitals” list recognized 10 of its hospitals for quality care. In addition, for the first time NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst was ranked as one of the best hospitals in New York: 26th in the New York Metro Area and 28th in New York State. The hospitals received high marks in heart failure, diabetes, kidney failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), stroke, hip fracture and pneumonia. For the ratings, US News assessed criteria including patient length of stay, readmission or death within 30 days of discharge, nurse staffing, patient satisfaction scores, and data transparency. U.S. News and World Report is a digital media company that releases annual consumer guides on a wide array of topics, including colleges, graduate schools, and more, and reaches more than 40 million people each month.
