Steve Stricker secured his sixth victory of the year on the PGA Tour Champions by winning the Sanford International in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A video clip of his winning putt was uploaded on Instagram by @pgatourchampions with a caption that read: “The SIXTH winning moment for @stevestrickpga this season ??????”
The seasoned golfer earned $300,000 from the tournament, bringing his yearly earnings to just under $4 million, setting a new-record for the highest earnings in a single season on the 50-and-older circuit.
Stricker has consistently performed well throughout the year, with no finish worse than eighth, and three of his six wins came in senior circuit majors. Starting the final round with a one-shot lead, Stricker faced strong competition from KJ Choi. However, Stricker made a crucial eagle putt on the par-5 12th hole and managed to stay ahead with late birdies. Stricker finished at 16-under 194, securing a two-shot victory.
Tiger Woods’ records continue to be shattered. Not long ago Stricker had shattered a famous Woods’ record. The Sanford win was Stricker’s sixth win of the season which again brings Woods into the picture.
