It has become something of a tradition for devoted fans of Adele to present her with homemade dolls stitched in her image, as a tribute to both her singing talents and powerful stage personality.

The dolls – which Mexican fans began to give her during her Las Vegas residency – form part of a huge collection of awards and trophies accumulated by the singer over her career.

So much so that she has now built a special trophy room to accommodate them all, including a purpose-built display cabinet for the handmade dolls, known in Mexico as Leles.

The room, being built as part of a £3 million refurbishment of Adele’s Beverly Hills mansion, will house her 16 Grammys, Brits, Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe gongs.

But the centrepiece will be the Leles, each one representing a phase of her journey from aspiring London singer to global recording sensation.

Mexican fans began handing her the dolls along with other gifts at her run of shows at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum auditorium, where she has until now stored them inside her dressing room.

The 35-year-old star said “I’m building a room at my house and, don’t laugh, not specifically for these dolls. I wouldn’t put that past me though. I’m a bit of a hoarder.

“But I’m building a new room in my house. It’s not like a museum. That would be very vain, wouldn’t it? It’s just like I’ve actually accumulated so many amazing and beautiful things over the last 15 years.”
