Sen. Rand Paul stops by Bowling Green – WNKY News 40 Television appeared on www.wnky.com by Tommy Modeszto.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Sen. Rand Paul was in Bowling Green Monday, discussing the future as politics heats up amid Donald Trump’s presidential win.
Recently, we’ve seen an up tick in violence in the Russia and Ukraine war with Russia firing non-nuclear IRBMs toward Ukraine. This comes as President Joe Biden authorized the use of of long range missiles that can strike deeper into Russian territory. Paul says the next four years could offer some relief for the war torn area.
“In order to come to a negotiated settlement, the best way to do it is not to escalate the use of arms. I think it was a terrible mistake by the Biden administration and it threatens to escalate this and expand this into a geographic war. So I’m completely against that. I think Donald Trump will try to negotiate an end to the war. And I think both sides are war weary. Hundreds of thousands of people have died. Some people say a million people have died. And so it’s almost like trench warfare from World War One. It’s really an awful war. And I think we can get to an end. But I hope Biden won’t do anything else reckless on the way out,” Paul said.
Paul also talked about his support for Trump’s cabinet picks, specifically showing his excitement for Robert Kennedy Jr. being chosen to lead the Department of Health and Human services.
“Robert Kennedy, I think he’s going to clean out HHS. There’s a lot of information that has not been revealed on COVID. I’ve been investigating our government’s funding of this research that went on in China that many of us believe spilled over and became an accident. The NIH has not revealed a lot of documents to me, nor the HHS. And I think having Robert Kennedy over there will finally get some sunlight shed on these things,” Paul said.
Paul also showed his support for for Trump’s pick for the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, saying she will do a good job of de-politicizing intelligence services saying those who wield their power to attack political opponents should be removed and replaced with non-partisan individuals.
