New Fortnite Update Fixes PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC Stability Issues Today
Fortnite players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Android may be wondering why they had a small update today, July 8, 2022, the same week V21.20 was also released. The new patch notes merely cite stability fixes as the main purpose for the update, which means there’s no new content or, more importantly, no content being removed from the game.
Fortnite Update: July 8 patch notes
We’ve released a maintenance patch for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Android devices to address stability issues.
Players will need to close their game to grab the update.
We’ll provide an update when this is available on Nintendo Switch. pic.twitter.com/g07Ku08bTQ— Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) July 8, 2022
The Fortnite update for July 8 was simply a maintenance patch that was meant to counter stability issues within the game. There has been no content added to any of the three modes in the game, nor has there been any content removed. There appear to have been no notable bug fixes or gameplay improvements either.
The stability issues were likely caused by the introduction of update V21.20 earlier this week. Battle Royale got the Indiana Jones Battle Pass Quests and the Shuffled Shrines temple, as well as themed items to unlock by completing those challenges. The Charge SMG was introduced into the game but this saw the Combat SMG enter the vault. Port-A-Forts have returned, while Ripsaw Launchers continue to be found across the map, just in lesser numbers.
Save The World players got new movement options with sprint, slide, mantle, shoulder bash, and crouch. Hoverboards have been upgraded and building layouts have changed. A new Hold to Repair function will allow multiple structures to be repaired at once. The Flight of the Fennix questline has begun, introducing new hero Fennix, while the Hit the Road Questline continues. Finally, Creative players get the Charge SMG and a plethora of other changes detailed in the V21.20 patch notes.
In other news, the Skate 4 playtest has been cracked and leaked online, although EA is trying to control the damage. Elsewhere, NBA 2K23 pre-orders are available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
