A Look Back at Michigan’s Favorite Country Concerts of 2022 appeared on witl.com by 100.7 WITL.

After a couple years adversely affected by the pandemic, wasn’t it great to see the country concert schedule in Michigan back to “normal” in 2022?

The Mitten State hosted dozens of country music’s biggest names in 2022, from established superstars such as Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton, to emerging superstars like Morgan Wallen and up-and-comers including Jimmie Allen and Parker McCollum.

As usual, most of country music’s biggest shows played venues in Detroit or Grand Rapids. A notable exception was Blake Shelton‘s show at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant back in August, along with a special cameo appearance from his rock star wife Gwen Stefani. Although she did not sing any of her own solo hits or anything from her days as lead singer of No Doubt, Gwen did join Blake on-stage for their two chart-topping duets “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere”.

Tens of thousands of country fans flocked to Michigan International Speedway in July for the annual Faster Horses Festival, headlined this year by Morgan Wallen, Eric Church and Tim McGraw. Several other artists made appearances over the course of the 3-day festival as well, including hitmakers Cole Swindell and Michael Ray, along with relative newcomers such as Jackson Dean and Dillon Carmichael.

For his part, Carmichael actually played Michigan at least three times in 2022 – at Faster Horses in July, at the Machine Shop in Flint in September, and at the “Wittle Country Christmas Party” in Lansing in December.
