All PS4 and PS5 Multiplayer Games Free This Weekend

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that all multiplayer games for the PS4 and PS5 will be free this weekend. A PlayStation Plus membership is required to play most games online, but that will not be the case this weekend. The promotion starts from August 27-28.

How to Play PS5/PS4 Multiplayer Games for Free

The recent tweet from PlayStation implies that you can play online games during the multiplayer weekend without a PlayStation Plus subscription. So, if you want to play Grand Theft Auto Online or fight in Tekken this weekend, you can do so without a PS Plus membership.

The PlayStation Plus games for the August lineup are Little Nightmares, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The August Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium users will include Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. Subscribers have until September 6 to grab these games.

Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, and Yakuza 5 Remastered will also be accessible for PlayStation Plus Premium members later this year. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will be available for Extra and Premium members.

Although it wasn’t the case when the subscription service first launched in 2010, PlayStation Plus is now necessary to play online multiplayer games on PS5 and PS4. This weekend, PS4 and PS5 users can join online titles at no additional cost, including the recently released EA’s Madden NFL 23.

This year, Sony entirely redesigned PS Plus by dividing it into three tiers of subscription services. You can select PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium. PS Essential is the same service that has been offered for years, PS Plus Extra gives you several extra titles, and PS Plus Premium offers PS One, PS2, PS3, and PSP titles with cloud gaming features, among others.

On the other hand, the company aims to increase the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers from 47.4 million during the previous fiscal year to 50 million during the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2023.
