Allen Stone Shows ‘American Idol’ How It’s Freakin’ Done [Watch] appeared on liveforlivemusic.com by L4LM.
Few people in this world can stir a person’s soul on command with just the sound of their voice as well as soul singer Allen Stone. It’s no wonder then that the vocal virtuoso was invited back to American Idol to mentor the show’s contestants. Stone appeared on the program on Sunday not only to help the singers find their voices, but to also deliver a rousing performance of Bob Marley‘s “Is This Love” that left judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan with their jaws on the floor.
Stone first appeared on American Idol in 2018 to share some of the valuable wisdom he has gained throughout his career with the singing contest’s top contenders. He also performed on the show alongside his mentees. On this week’s episode, Stone once again proffered sage advice to the American Idol hopefuls, but the highlight of his appearance was a truly stunning performance of “Is This Love” at Disney‘s Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii.
As soon as Stone opens his mouth and begins to sing, Luke Bryan lets out an involuntary, “Wow!” to which Lionel Richie responds, “That’s what pros sound like.” The song’s arrangement includes a vocal interlude where the show’s contestants emerge to harmonize with Stone before a climactic finish that elicits a standing ovation from Katy Perry.
