Billie Eilish Could Tie One Of Adele’s Most Impressive Grammy Records appeared on www.forbes.com by Hugh McIntyre.

Billie Eilish has another hit on her hands with her current single, “What Was I Made For?” The tune, crafted for the Barbie movie and featured on its soundtrack, quickly found its way into the top 40 on the Hot 100 chart. As Eilish and her label continue to a full-fledged promotional campaign for the track, it could lead to another Grammy nomination for the star. But not just any nod, mind you—one that could help her eventually tie Adele and make Grammy history.

“What Was I Made For?” should already be considered as a serious contender for a Song of the Year Grammy nomination. The single is emotional, well-written and the kind of hauntingly beautiful production that only Eilish can pull off this well. It’s also very much the kind of soul-stirring tune that resonates with Grammy voters.

Given Eilish’s track record of success at the Grammys and her widespread popularity, there is a good chance she will be included in the prestigious lineup of Song of the Year nominees.

Eilish, along with her brother Finneas, who collaborates with her in writing and producing all of her music, previously won the Song of the Year trophy for her breakout hit “Bad Guy.” If “What Was I Made For?” secures a nomination, it will mark their third time contending for the esteemed award, as they were also up for the prize the following year for “Everything I Wanted,” though that time around the honor went to H.E.R. and her co-writers for “I Can’t Breathe.”

Only one female songwriter has managed to win the Song of the Year Grammy more than once, and that is none other than the British pop sensation, Adele. She first claimed the golden gramophone for her soulful hit “Rolling in the Deep,” and she repeated her triumph a few years later with the heartfelt ballad “Hello.” If Eilish and Finneas secure another win, she will join Adele in this exclusive and remarkable feat.

Winning the Song of the Year Grammy twice is a challenging task, but it is certainly not beyond reach for Billie Eilish. Her talent and the immense popularity of her music have already earned her back-to-back Record of the Year awards for “Bad Guy” and “Everything I Wanted.” These triumphs were considered surprising by many—mostly the second—and they solidified Eilish’s position as one of the music industry’s most celebrated artists.

With the eligibility period for the 2024 Grammys ending on September 15, 2023, and the nominees set to be announced on November 10, 2023, chances are most of the tracks that will be nominated are already out. Eilish’s potential inclusion in the Song of the Year category is one to watch out for, and she may very well be on her way to another historic win during music’s biggest night.
