Blake Shelton and Carson Daly didn’t ever make efforts to conceal their adorable bromance since the beginning of The Voice. Undeniably, their professional yet hilarious interactions in television were a joy to watch. But how did these two really brew the friendship that they have today?
Shelton and Daly recently sat down for an interview with The Bellas Podcast to talk about the incredible success of Barmageddon. They also got candid on how they managed to retain their brotherly connection for over a decade.
Carson Daly Says Blake Shelton was a “Nobody” when He Joined The Voice
As one of the first people to be casted in The Voice, Daly witnessed how each of the original coaches were chosen to take their role in the competition. According to the host, Shelton was a guy “who nobody had heard of” at the time.
“We were one coach short and we couldn’t find anybody,” he said. “And then there was this guy Blake Shelton who nobody had heard of except I think, like 50 people in Nashville.”
The two met at NBCUniversal where they had to film the singing reality series. Shelton was alongside Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green playing the role of coaches during the premiere season.
“He came in and shocked the show,” Daly said. “And 12 years later nobody’s had a bigger bounce on that show than this nobody Blake Shelton. He’s now the biggest celebrity on earth. Isn’t that crazy?”
Shelton was the only original coach who didn’t leave The Voice since its first season. Unfortunately though, after season 23, he will already depart from the famous show. Be that as it may, people will still be seeing the country star on screen as Barmageddon is quickly becoming the best bar game series on TV.
Their Friendship Went Beyond The Singing Competition Show
The “Ol’ Red” singer said that he and Daly instantly clicked when they met. While he didn’t work with the host as often as other coaches, the two go to each other’s dressing rooms to mingle.
“We can’t be away from each other,” he said. “We try to find each other backstage and drink and make fun of the other [coaches] behind their backs.”
Shelton further said that they make time to hang out even when they weren’t filming The Voice. More often than not, they catch up within their houses to afford privacy and keep up with their busy schedules.
