The celebrated song was on the Wailers’ last album together, “Burnin’,” which itself marks its 50th anniversary this coming Thursday (19). The video follows the official release last month of the group’s performance of “Slave Driver” from the same concert. Also newly launched is a merchandise suite including an exclusive print by Arthur Gorson, who spent two weeks photographing Marley in Jamaica around the time of the album recording.
As reported, a 50th anniversary reissue edition of Catch A Fire, Marley and the Wailers’ first album for Island Records, will be released on November 3. It will be available in a 3 x Vinyl LP + 12” set and a 3 CD set, and across all digital platforms.
The long-awaited Paramount film Bob Marley: One Love, which tells the story of the rise to fame of the reggae figurehead, will be released in theaters on January 12. It stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as Marley and Lashana Lynch as his wife, Rita, and is produced by Ziggy Marley, Cedella Marley, and Rita Marley, with Stephen Marley as the music supervisor. The official synopsis for the film states: “Bob Marley: One Love celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity. On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music.” Ben-Adir’s previous work has included playing Malcolm X in One Night In Miami and Barack Obama in The Comey Rule. The new biopic is helmed by King Richard director Reinaldo Marcus Green.
