Bruce Springsteen is coming back to Ireland – but he won’t play Dublin | Her.ie appeared on www.her.ie by Simon Kelly.
It looks like The Boss is coming back.
With reports buzzing around last week of Bruce Springsteen returning to Irish shores in 2024, it looks like his Irish fans wishes could be granted.
The Boss and his management team are reportedly negotiating deals to bring shows to Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh on May 16 and 18 as well as a concert in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny in consideration.
However, despite Springsteen’s sold-out three-show bonanza in the RDS earlier this year, it looks like he won’t be heading back to Dublin anytime soon. Instead, shows in Cork and Kilkenny are the only ones planned for now.
According to the Irish Independent, a GAA match in Páirc Uí Chaoimh has already been rescheduled in anticipation of the 73-year-old’s arrival, with the subject being discussed at a Cork County Board meeting this week.
Springsteen played a show at the stadium in 2013, however, the stadium has since been refurbished to better facilitate concerts and events. Ed Sheeran, Elton John and Westlife have all performed there over the last few years.
2024 is proving to already be a huge year for concerts throughout the country, as both Taylor Swift and Coldplay are playing multiple shows in Dublin. Both have also drawn major controversy surrounding ticket sales, as on-sale dates saw hordes of fans of both artists left disappointed and without tickets.
To date, Springsteen has played 31 concerts in Ireland since his debut performance in Ireland, at Slane Castle, in 1985.
The New Jersey musician has played in nine different venues across the island of Ireland, having visited Slane (Meath), Dublin, Belfast, Kilkenny, Limerick and Cork, over the years.
