There are excellent relations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See. This was announced by the Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who visited Azerbaijan, during a meeting with Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, APA reported.

The cardinal noted that there are negotiations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See about interreligious dialogue, cooperation, and peace.

“I express my gratitude to the members of the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Holy See and Azerbaijan have the same position in humanitarian issues, especially in the issues of security and sustainable peace. Our representation is very important in the region because over many years, our diplomatic relations have deepened, and we have worked together towards a strong partnership, including the search for peaceful solutions. Last year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Azerbaijan,” said Cardinal Parolin.

It is obvious that such level of praise will encourage Azerbaijan to perform new “humanitarian feats,” the clear proof of which is its ongoing blockade of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
