As rumors about his father Tiger Woods considering a split with Nike continue to swirl, it appears that 14-year-old Charlie Woods has signed a clothing deal of his own.
Greyson Clothiers, a high end clothing line that sponsors a number of PGA Tour players, posted multiple Instagram stories of Charlie wearing their clothing at this weekend’s PNC Championship.
One of those was a repost of a story from former NFL wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald which read, ‘Welcome to the @greysonclothiers family, Charlie’.
It’s unclear if this is an indicator that Charlie has signed with them, as a glance on the company website does not show the high schooler among the brand’s ambassadors.
But this all comes as rumors continue to swirl about the relationship between Nike and Tiger Woods.
Charlie Woods may have already inked his first clothing deal before he even turned pro
An Instagram story from retired NFL WR Larry Fitzgerald suggests Charlie signed with Greyson
Woods’ contract with Nike is on the verge of running out – with a ten-year, $200million deal he signed back in 2013 set to expire.
Between that signing and the present day, Nike has gone from producing golf balls, golf clubs, and other golf accessories to just making clothing.
That’s forced Woods to go from using Nike’s clubs and balls to using other equipment.
Woods now uses TaylorMade clubs and Bridgestone balls. He’s also notably made a return to his Ping-gripped Scotty Cameron putter over the Nike Method putter he used for a period of time.
He’s also transitioned to wearing Foot-Joy golf shoes, moving away from a product that Nike still makes.
When asked about the relationship between himself and the company at the PNC, Woods replied, ‘I’m still wearing their product’. When pressed for a follow-up, he repeated his answer.
The PNC was likely the last time we’ll see Tiger on the golf course in 2023 – meaning it could be the last time we see him wearing the swoosh.
This all comes as Tiger Woods is rumored to be considering a split from Nike after 27 years
If it’s truly curtains for the Oregon-based company, it would be the end to one of the longest athlete-apparel company relationships in sports.
Tiger’s been in Nike’s stables since 1996 – when he was just 20 years old and had just turned pro.
Greyson sponsors a number of PGA Tour players – including Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick, Sam Ryder, Kelly Kraft, Luke Donald, Kramer Hickok, Luke List, Harry Higgs, and Morgan Hoffman among others.
Other athletes that wear their clothes include NHL stars Dylan Larkin and Trevor Zegras, tennis star JJ Wolf, and baseball player Ian Happ.
