Charlie Worsham Unveils Star-Studded ‘Compadres’ EP, Releases Luke Combs Collaboration appeared on countrynow.com by Country Now.

“I’m so excited for the world to hear me sing ‘How I Learned To Pray’ alongside my buddy Luke Combs,” Worsham said.

Charlie Worsham has teamed up with several country music stars, including Luke Combs, on his upcoming collaborative Compadres EP.

Worsham and Combs merge their smooth voices in a recently released, uplifting, and spiritual track titled, “How I Learned To Pray.”

“How I Learned To Pray”

Written by Worsham, Jeremy Spillman, and Ryan Ryndel,  “How I Learned To Pray” tells the story of a young man finding faith and learning to pray in all situations. Combs begins the first verse by singing about the freedom of a teenager driving solo for the first time. As he continues, he finds himself thinking back on a car wreck that led him to fold his hands in prayer.

It wasn’t in a church, with a chapter and a verse / Some preacher made sure everybody heard / Or just some words somebody taught me to say,” the two artists sing in the first chorus.

Immediately following the chorus, Worsham comes in with the second verse where he sings about answered prayers and love. He knew it would take a special girl to be with him, but when he found her, he knew the man upstairs had listened to her prayers and saved him.

Worsham and Combs repeat the chorus but this time it has an added extension.

Listen

I can fold my hands and bow my head / But there’s just some things that can’t be said / Without a little walk on water kind of faith / And that’s how I learned to pray,” they sing in unison before an instrumental break.

Alongside the release of the single, Worsham released the “How I Learned To Pray” music video. It features both the Mississippi Native and the two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year singing in the studio. Their studio clips appear on screen over outdoor backgrounds like trees, mountains, valleys, meadows, and curvy roads.

Song Originally Appeared On His Debut Album

“How I Learned To Pray” was originally featured as a solo track on Worsham’s debut album, Rubberband. Released in August of 2013, the 11-track album also featured fan-favorites like “Could It Be” and “Want Me Too.”

Worsham and Combs’ duet is one of five other tracks on the highly anticipated Compadres EP. Produced by Jaren Johnston, the project will be released on Friday, October 13 and it will include guest vocals from Dierks Bentley, Elle King, Kip Moore, and Lainey Wilson.

“I’m so excited for the world to hear me sing ‘How I Learned To Pray’ alongside my buddy Luke Combs,” Worsham said in a release. “The whole idea behind Compadres is to celebrate the friendships I’ve made through music over the past decade.”

He continued, “I think fans will be able to hear how much fun we had making this project, and I think they’ll also hear how each of these songs tells a different part of my story. I’ve gotta give a shout-out to my Compadre-in-Chief, Jaren Johnston, for producing this project with me and pushing me to sing and play with more ferocity than ever before.”

Compadres is Worsham’s second EP and it is an introduction to the next chapter of a decade-long story.
