CHP investigates two monkeypox cases – RTHK appeared on news.rthk.hk by news.rthk.hk.
The first involves a 44-year-old man with good past health. On Sunday, he developed blisters, a mouth ulcer and a headache. He went to a private doctor on Wednesday and then to the Yau Ma Tei Male Social Hygiene Clinic on Thursday.
The second involves a 31-year-old man with an underlying illness. On Monday, he developed swollen lymph nodes and a localised skin ulcer. He went to the same Yau Ma Tei clinic on Thursday.
Both are now stable in Princess Margaret Hospital.
The CHP says it has not yet identified any epidemiological link, either between the two men or other confirmed cases here. It said an initial investigation showed they had high-risk exposure in Hong Kong during the incubation period.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says most Monkeypox cases are found in men who have sex with men, although any person with multiple sex partners is also at risk. It says most people fully recover from the virus but some get very sick.
The CHP says it is still investigating and has reported the cases to the WHO.
