LOCK HAVEN — Local band Mixtape raked in quite the crowd at Avenue 209 Coffeehouse for a petition event created by the Clinton County PA Democratic Party.

The event had many potential officials in attendance to meet the locals and collect signatures for support.

Attendees were encouraged to sign for Lock Haven council members, commissioners, district attorney, sheriff, auditors, supreme court justices and more.

Each petition area had short bios on the candidates, telling about their schooling, jobs, goals and passions for the community.

A number of the candidates themselves showed up to talk with the public and potential voters, connecting with the community while they all enjoyed Mix Tape’s music.

The performance featured Jason Brown on keyboards, guitar and vocals, Ryan Bodle on lead guitar and vocals, Bob Wahlers on drums and vocals and Mayor Joel Long on bass, harmonica and lead vocals.

Mix Tape played a range of songs from various decades — hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and the early 2000s.

The band began their set with “Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)” by Robert Palmer, and really knocked it out of the park!

They played around 18 songs total in their two hour set, including songs to get the crowd to sing along like “Piano Man” by Billy Joel, “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts — better known as the F.R.I.E.N.D.S theme song, “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen and “1985” by Bowling for Soup.

Their entire set was full of energy, movement and excellent instrumentals/vocals. They filled Avenue with an exciting atmosphere that had crowd members hanging on their every song.

This was one of two events held recently to help candidates to gather signatures for placement on the primary ballot.

The Clinton County PA Democratic Party also hosted a “Soup & Sign” event where locals had a chance to meet the candidates. Those who attended that event were given the option of one of eight different soups and homemade bread prepared by volunteers.
