Ed Sheeran recently shared his skepticism about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the music industry. In an interview with Audacy Live, Sheeran expressed that he found AI to be “a bit weird” and raised concerns about its potential impact on job displacement.
Sheeran questioned the necessity of AI in society, referencing movies where AI technology becomes a threat to humanity. He also stressed the importance of human involvement in job creation, stating that if robots take over all tasks, many people will be left unemployed.

On the other hand, some artists have embraced AI technology to explore new possibilities. Grimes, for example, has developed AI software called Elf.Tech, which enables users to create music in her voice and style. Artists using this software can release their creations commercially by agreeing to share royalties with the singer.
As generative AI continues to infiltrate the music industry, it has sparked a mixed response from artists. While some express concerns about its potential consequences and artistic integrity, others view it as an avenue for experimentation and creativity.
