Ed Sheeran shocked a local New York City subway busker when he surprised him with free tickets to his show.

The 32-year-old made Mike Yung’s day by inviting him to watch his show in Brooklyn at Kings Theatre where he performed all tracks from his new album Subtract for the first time in America.

Mike, 62, blew up the internet in 2016 after a video of him singing The Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody in a subway station went viral.

The online success earned him a spot on America’s Got Talent and ultimately led to him releasing a studio album two years later in 2018.

On Monday, the much-loved busker was in the middle of filming a video singing Ed’s new song Eyes Closed, when the star himself surprised him at Church Street subway station in Brooklyn.

The performer was hitting all the right notes during the chorus of the megastar’s latest smash hit when Ed surprised him by joining in.

They shared a warm hug and Ed went on to offer the fellow singer tickets to his next show.

Ed and Mike stood singing side by side for a few moments before the lyrics came to an end with the busker exclaiming that the star: ‘Made my day’.

The celebrated artist then asked his new friend if he could show him something and produced a pair of tickets to watch him perform live.

Mike shared his chance intersection with the singer on Instagram and posted the video that showed the pair duetting.

Alongside a collection of pictures of himself and Ed and some videos from the actual concert, the singer penned: ‘Thanks for the tickets bro the show was Amazing @teddysphotos [sic]’.

Fans were quick to share their amazement at the meeting and left a bunch of praise for both singers under the post.

One wrote: ‘What a magical day; you were incredible, Mike! [sic]’.

Another said: ‘Amazing both of you. Im in New York next year. Would love to come across you in the subway to listen [sic]’.

‘I love Ed… such a down to earth and humble dude! So glad he did this! [sic],’ a social media user mentioned in response to the post.
