Ed Sheeran to make 'rock return'… alongside 80s legends – Mancunian Matters appeared on www.mancunianmatters.co.uk by Mancunian Matters.
Pop sensation Ed Sheeran looks set to for a rock resurgence when a song he has written alongside a rock icon is released in June.
Despite becoming synonymous with stripped-back sets and the acoustic guitar, Sheeran, 33, has regularly flirted with the rock music industry throughout his career.
In fact, in his 2005 debut EP “The Orange Room” a teenage Ed Sheeran released Typical Average, a song inspired by the rock music surrounding the turn of the century.
But his love for rock didn’t stop there as, in 2019, the Suffolk-based singer released “Blow”, a song likened to the music of bands like Led Zepplin and Queens of the Stone Age, alongside Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars as part of his No.6 Collaborations Project album.
More recently, he released a heavy metal/rock version of his popular hit Bad Habits alongside Sheffield band Bring Me the Horizon, albeit to a mixed reception from fans.
And this June, it seems Sheeran will return to the rock genre – with a song he co-wrote an upcoming track on Bon Jovi’s much-anticipated album Forever.

His role has not been officially released by either act and the song-writing credits are not listed on Spotify. But the reputable music listing website Genius has details of the tracks – including Sheeran’s involvement.
The song, entitled Living in Paradise, is the 10th track of the album which will be released on June 7.
Sheeran is credited as a co-writer of the track alongside Jon Bon Jovi, marking the pop artist’s return to his rock roots and love for the 80s rock genre.
He posted a picture on social media of himself with Bon Jovi at the end of last year.
Bon Jovi has written or co-written all their hits since their first album, including It’s My Life, Always, Blaze of Glory and Livin’ On A Prayer.
Forever is the 16th studio album of the legendary rock band Bon Jovi, and will be their first since frontman Jon’s vocal surgery in 2022.
It will be the band’s first album in four years, leaving fans eager to see what the band has been working on in their time away from the studio.
The album was announced last week alongside the release of lead single Legendary which gave fans a taste of what is to come this summer.
And with worldwide superstars like Sheeran contributing to the album, it looks like the rock icons are looking to come back with a bang in 2024.
