Elton John‘s private jet is allowed to land in Sydney past flight curfew – as he performs his last-ever Australian concert

Sir Elton John‘s private jet was granted a special exemption to land at Sydney Airport past the flight curfew of 11pm.

The legendary singer, 75, touched down in Sydney in his private plane at 12:44am on Sunday – an hour-and-a-half past the cut-off time for incoming aircraft.

Elton’s Bombardier Global Express jet was included on a ‘list of exempt aircraft’ allowed to operate outside Sydney Airport’s curfew hours.

An aviation source told The Daily Telegraph: ‘This person has been known to arrive after the curfew with other flights.’

The Rocket Man hitmaker was snapped disembarking the plane in an eye-popping purple jumpsuit, with his entourage following behind him.

The federal Department of Infrastructure said the travel exemption was not granted specifically to Elton but rather to his jet type over ‘traffic constraints’.

Elton has just finished performing his final Australian tour, wrapping it up with a concert in Brisbane on Saturday.

His last tour comes 51 years after after he first performed in Australia at Sydney’s Randwick Racecourse in October 1971.

Sir Elton is set to make a pretty penny off his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which kicked off in Newcastle on January 8.

He offered a ‘VIP’ experience package to keen fans for a whopping $1,749.

Billed as the ‘ultimate Elton John experience’, the VIP package got buyers a deluxe seat, drinks and canapés and a photo opportunity with Elton’s iconic Yamaha grand piano – but not the musician himself.

Fans could also pay $1,499 for another VIP package that includes a seat in the first ten rows and a photo with Elton’s piano.

Luckily for those less-cashed-up fans, normal tickets to his shows were also available for a comparatively bargain price of $250.
