Elvis Presley Beats Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra in Physical Music Sales appeared on nnn.ng by NNN.
Elvis Presley has been crowned the most successful solo artist of all time, once again.
New research conducted by Offline Marketing Company Oppizi reveals that Presley has sold the most physical copies of his music compared to any other US artist.
He has sold an impressive 135,210,000 units, followed by Frank Sinatra with 95,250,000 and Michael Jackson with 79,350,000 physical units sold.
Surprisingly, Jackson’s best-selling album, Thriller, which sold a claimed 70 million copies, couldn’t beat Presley’s sales.
The research has also revealed that Elvis’s best-selling single is “It’s Now or Never” with 5.42 million units sold, making it the seventh best-selling single of all time.
Presley’s fanbase can still be felt today: a recent poll revealed that 47% of Americans still consider themselves fans of “The King”.
However, it is expected that the biopic by Baz Luhrmann and the Oscars buzz generated by star Austin Butler would attract new fans from younger generations to Elvis’s music as well.
