‘Elvis took over two years of my life,’ says Austin Butler who acted as the singer in the biographical film – Times of India appeared on timesofindia.indiatimes.com by etimes.in.
He had to learn to speak like Elvis, talk like Elvis, walk like Elvis and dance like Elvis. He says that for two years, he did nothing else. So complete was the transformation that it has become a standing joke that he has yet to shake off Elvis’s drawl, something that gets written about from time to time in the media.
In a recent interview, he disclosed that he took a tip from Ryan Gosling who had declared that for his role in The Lovely Bones, he got into the habit of microwaving Haagen-Dazs to gain weight. Austin Butler decided that this was a good idea.
He also took to eating 12 doughnuts at a time, something that was fun at first, but later became awful. The film was delayed because of the pandemic, so it really ended up taking over two whole years of his life. He also said that he would listen to Elvis’s songs for hours every day, listening to how he spoke, laughed and sang. Guess the hard work paid off and now he is reaping the rewards – and the awards.
