At AJC Global Forum 2024, American Jewish Committee (AJC), the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people, released the results from its 2024 Survey of American Jewish Opinion. The survey assessed how Hamas’ brutal terror attack against Israelis on October 7 has impacted American Jewish opinion on several topics, including rising antisemitism, Jewish safety and security in the U.S., connectivity to Jewish peoplehood and to Israel, education about Israel, and perspectives on the next U.S. election. Key Findings:
- 85% of American Jews, believe it is important for the U.S. to support Israel in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas terror attacks.
- After the deadliest day for Jewish since the Holocaust, 87% of American Jews think that antisemitism has increased in the U.S.
- Following October 7, 57% of American Jews feel more connected to Israel or their Jewish identity compared to before.
- Since October 7, more than one in 10 American Jews have ended a friendship or relationship because the person expressed antisemitic views.
- Nine in 10 American Jews believe antisemitism is a problem in the U.S.
