A clip that shows Russian President Vladimir Putin snubbing French President Emmanuel Macron before shaking hands with other world leaders has been cropped. The full video shows that Putin did not ignore Macron.
Social media users shared the altered version with captions such as: “Putin SNUBS Macron’s handshake in front of his wife” (here), (here), (here).
The video was taken in Paris, France, in November 2018 during an event to commemorate the end of World War One (here). Reuters reported that dozens of monarchs, presidents and prime ministers joined Macron at the Arc de Triomphe, where the ceremony was held.
The full video shows that Putin greeted Macron before shaking hands with then German Chancellor Angela Merkel and then U.S. President Donald Trump (timestamp 0:50) (here).
A clip taken from a different angle (timestamp 0:27) (here) also shows the leaders shaking hands.
