Fall open burning period returns to South Beloit with several requirements appeared on www.wrex.com by WREX.
SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. — With fall’s seasonal rebound into Stateline area, South Beloit welcomes its citizens to burn waste generated on their property.
However, the South Beloit Fire Department issues several conditions with the open burning period’s return.
For instance, burning of treated lumber, trash or furniture is strictly prohibited. Likewise, sites can’t exceed 5 feet in diameter and must be located 30 feet away from any structure.
Fires are never to be left unattended, and participants must have water or other extinguishment means nearby at all times.
All open burning must cease at the request of the police or fire department – especially if the fire risks health or safety.
Burnings are permitted when winds are below 10 mph – reducing the fire’s spread. Additionally, smoke can’t impede or obscure roadway visibility.
Open burning runs Oct. 7 through Nov. 19. South Beloit allows the fires from 8:00 A.M. till 6:00 P.M. for these days.
