Flu-hit pope’s Angelus given from Santa Marta chapel – English appeared on www.ansa.it by ANSA.it.
(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 26 – The pope’s Sunday Angelus address was
given from the chapel of Casa Santa Marta residence where he
lives inside the Vatican on Sunday instead of from a window of
the Apostolic Palace looking onto Saint Peter’s Square because
the Argentine pontiff is suffering from flu.
Furthermore, the address, which was broadcast to the faithful in
the square via big screens, was read out for Francis by
Monsignor Paolo Braida, one of his closest aides.
“Today I can’t look out of the window because I have this
lung-inflammation problem, and reading the reflection will be
Msgr Braida, who knows them (the reflections) well because it is
he who writes them and he always does them so well.
“Thank you so much for your presence”.
The Holy See said Saturday that Pope Francis had a CT scan at
the Gemelli hospital on the Tiber Island in Rome after showing
flu-like symptoms.
In a statement, it said the test yielded negative results,
ruling out the risk of “pulmonary complications” after his
scheduled audiences for the day were cancelled. (ANSA).
