Syracuse, N.Y. — The judge overseeing Burt Marshall’s $90 million bankruptcy didn’t mince words when expressing his opinion of how the Madison County man has run his businesses.
In a document filed Friday, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Patrick Radel noted that Marshall racked up more than $90 million in unsecured debt — most of it borrowed from friends, neighbors, customers and clients via 8% promissory notes in the small Madison County village of Hamilton — while his multiple businesses were valued at less than $22 million.
