Free PS5 and PS4 games for August 2022 revealed
Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus lineup for next month, confirming the free PS5 and 4 games on the way. All three of these games will be available for PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra and Premium lineups (although the Extra and Premium are getting even more).
Yakuza: Like A Dragon (PS4, PS5)
SEGA’s action RPG Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be free on PS5 and PS4. Released in 2020, this was the first mainline title in the Yakuza franchise developed as a turn-based RPG. In the game you play as Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family who has returned to society after serving 18 years for a crime he didn’t commit. Explore and fight your way across a modern-day Japanese city to uncover the truth behind your family’s betrayal.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle (PS4, PS5)
The first two Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater titles are perhaps two of the best skateboarding games ever made. As a kid in the late 90s and early 2000s, I spent countless hours grinding rails and performing aerial stunts across various levels. And lets not forget these games introduced me to a soundtrack of songs that would forever remain on my playlist.
Then in 2020, Vicarious Visions remastered them in what is now known as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. This is basically a remaster of these two iconic games, rebuilt from the ground up in HD. In our review, we called Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 a “great starting point for newcomers and a refreshing return to the glory days of skateboarding for veterans of the franchise.”
Little Nightmares (PS4)
The third and final free game for all three levels of PlayStation Plus in August is Little Nightmares, a dark and whimsical puzzle-platform adventure “that will confront you with your childhood fears.” Little Nightmares was released back in 2017, but we had the chance to play its gorgeous sequel. If you’re interested in whimsical horror games, this is a good way to get started for free and build up to Little Nightmares 2.
All three of these games will be available for free through PS Plus from August 2 through August 6. As a reminder, you have until August 1 to download July’s free games: Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Man of Medan and Arcadegeddon.
