GameStop Customer Trades in PS4 Console Themed After Donald Trump

A GameStop employee shares a bizarre themed PS4 with a Donald Trump and American flag skin that a customer traded in.

GameStop has been in the news for many things over the years, although this incident of a customer trading in a Donald Trump themed PS4 Console sheds light on some of its customers. All things considered, the GameStop employee may end up taking off the custom Donald Trump skin before reselling the console.

With GameStop’s controversy growing over the years, such as the recent reveal of a previous GameStop employee claiming that they were encouraged to lie to customers for Pro Memberships, GameStop selling an NFT based on 9/11, and overpricing used items with customers receiving little in return, its reputation has been receding from what it used to be. However, in this case of a customer who sold their PS4 with a Donald Trump skin covering the entire console, the controversy focuses on the particular customer more than it does the company.

Shared in the GameStop Reddit community page, which is a place for employees to share fun stuff and to help each other out, one user by the name of Livrax7 shared a photo of a PS4 Pro console with a controversial skin. This skin encompasses the console and controller with an American flag and Donald Trump. The photo is accompanied by the caption “someone traded this in…” but no words can truly do it justice. If customers at this particular location are not able to make it in time for the GameStop PS5 restocks, then maybe they can pick up this PS4 instead, minus the skin, unless players are interested in mixing their entertainment with politics.

The GameStop stock movie featuring Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, and Pete Davidson might want to take notes, as this could be a fun comic relief scene for what is certainly an odd trade. Even so, the GameStop employee might want to remove the Donald Trump skin in hopes to remain unbiased, as it is unknown how the skin would affect the sale of this particular PS4.

GameStop used to be a more popular business among players with the pandemic affecting in person events and sales. The comments of the Reddit post show that GameStop employees can still find humor in their place of employment. One commenter quoted the statement displayed on the skin “I am rich” and then proceeded to comment on the irony of the customer selling the PS4 to GameStop because they need money, and GameStop is notorious for high prices and low trade in values. Skins allow players to personalize their gaming experience, but few have been as publicly political as this one.
