Guerrilla Games is shutting down online servers for several games

Guerrilla Games announced they will be shutting down the online servers for several of their games.

The Dutch development studio is shutting down online servers for Killzone: Mercenary, Killzone Shadow Fall, and RIGS: Mechanized Combat League on August 12, 2022. The new shutdowns mean every Killzone game will have no functioning online multiplayer.

Both Killzone: Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall released in 2013 for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 respectively. RIGS: Mechanized Combat League was a PlayStation VR title that saw limited success from Guerrilla Games as well.

The Killzone franchise spawned six entries since it’s debut on the Playstation 2 in 2004. With the last title being released in 2013, many fans are worried that the franchise is dead. As of right now, Guerrilla Games has not given a definitive answer on whether or not we will see the return of the series, but we can still hope to one date experience a modern-day war across the world of the Helghast.

Did you play any of the Killzone games? What are some of your most fond memories? Let us know down in the comment section below, as for me, I think I’m gonna dust off my Killzone collection and pop it into my PS3 for some good ol’ fashion warfare.
