Guild Wars 2 Dives Into Secrets Of The Obscure’s New Wizard’s Vault Rewards System – MMOs.com appeared on mmos.com by MMOs.com.
ArenaNet continues to talk up Guild Wars 2’s upcoming Secrets of the Obscure expansion with another preview blog that dives into the expansion’s new Wizard’s Vault reward system. It’s basically a free battle pass with a few tweaks made to set it apart from conventional content passes.
“By directing players to various parts of the game with regularly refreshed challenges and rewards, the Wizard’s Vault system functions similarly to a seasonal content pass in other games,” ArenaNet explains. “We tried to build the Wizard’s Vault from the ground up to be as player friendly as possible.”
Unlike traditional battle passes, Wizard’s Vault cosmetics won’t disappear at the end of every season. Players will also be able to choose which rewards they want to unlock in any order and won’t need to pay gems or real money to unlock them. Completing Wizard’s Vault objectives will reward them to earn Astral Acclaim which they’ll then be able to spend on current and past reward offerings.
“Our goal in doing this is to alleviate player anxiety about timed rewards—if something comes into the vault when it’s not a good time for you to be playing much, it’ll still be there for you later,” the developers said.
These objectives refresh on a daily basis and will include both PvE, WvW, and PvP tasks. You’ll be able to opt-in and out of certain content to allow you to customize your Wizard’s Vault experience to exactly how you like it. Possible rewards include weapon skins, mount skins, and legendary weapon starter kits, among others.
“These starter kits are a way to turn your playtime into progress toward a specific legendary. We’re introducing starter kits for four legendaries in this first round of offerings and intend to rotate in others in the future; we’ll be watching feedback and usage to inform future iterations of the starter kits,” ArenaNet said.
Secrets of the Obscure will be arriving on August 22nd with several new gameplay systems in tow, including the new relic system, rift hunting, and weaponmaster training. In the meantime, you can learn more about the Wizard’s Vault on the Guild Wars 2 official site.
