H.K. national security police offer bounty for self-exiled activists appeared on english.kyodonews.net by KYODO NEWS.

Hong Kong national security police said Monday they have issued arrest warrants and placed bounties of HK$1 million ($127,600) each on eight pro-democracy activists, including former lawmakers Ted Hui and Nathan Law.

The eight individuals, who are currently living in self-exile, stand accused of national security offenses such as acts of secession and collusion with foreign forces.

In a press conference on Monday, police said that the eight individuals had “seriously violated the national security law,” as well as advocated for sanctions against local officials and conspired with foreign countries to undermine Hong Kong’s financial status.

The police also appealed to the group to surrender, adding that the court may impart lighter sentences to those who willingly come forward.

The eight individuals relocated to various countries, including the United States, Canada and Britain, after the implementation of the national security law in 2020 following the democracy movement in 2019.

The Beijing-imposed law criminalizes acts of secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign forces.
