Healthy Bruce Springsteen is ready to rock, Max Weinberg says appeared on www.app.com by Chris Jordan.
How is Bruce Springsteen feeling?
“Excellent,” said Max Weinberg Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank. “I saw him about a month ago and the man is ready to rock.”
Weinberg’s Jukebox was the headliner of the Light of Day show at the Basie on Saturday when he took a moment for the Springsteen heath update. The Boss postponed 24 shows in 2023 due to a bout with peptic ulcer disease.
“We will be back in March. So if you haven’t seen us, please come support the Weinberg retirement fund,” quipped Weinberg, drummer for the E Street Band.
Springsteen said he’s “bellyache” free on the Nov. 20 episode of his SiriusXM “From My Home to Yours” deejay show. The Boss has performed several times in public since postponing the E Street shows, including Nov. 6 at the Stand Up for Heroes veteran’s benefit in New York City, and a United States Equestrian Team Foundation benefit Jan 19 in Wellington, Florida.
Weinberg’s Jukebox — so named as the fans pick the classic rock songs the band plays — played two songs associated with Springsteen and the E Street Band on Saturday: “Twist and Shout” and “Pink Cadillac.”
“When I start on this song (‘Pink Cadillac) in concert, lades and gentlemen, I’m the only one in that stadium full of people who suddenly realizes it’s Max Weinberg and the E Street Band,“ Weinberg said. “That happens in this song and ‘Candy’s Room.’ This is my fantasy, everybody. When in reality, I’m the guy that’s slightly out of focus over Bruce’s shoulder when the picture comes up. It’s a humbling experience.”

Weinberg’s fans were focused in on the drummer at the Basie.
“Love you Max!” yelled an audience member.
