Help the dogs, possibly win Kenny Chesney tickets: Venues’ operator partners with humane society appeared on www.mlive.com by Skyla Jewell-Hammie | SJewell-Hammie@mlive.com.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Dog lovers in the Grand Rapids area will have a chance to support the Humane Society of West Michigan through some bark-tastic events next week.

They could also win Kenny Chesney concert tickets.

ASM Global, the company that oversees Van Andel Arena, DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall, is partnering with the Humane Society of West Michigan to host “Dog Week” March 13-19.

Patrons can drop off donations to the Humane Society at 3077 Wilson Dr. NW before attending any of the dog-themed events: Winery Dogs, Paw Patrol Live and Paws, Claws & Corks.

“We realized that we had multiple events within one week that had to do with dogs,” said Hilarie Carpenter, director of marketing at ASM Global. “So we thought, ‘Why not sum it up and use it as a way to collect supplies for the Humane Society.’”

Those who donate pet supplies during the week can enter to win two tickets to see the dog-loving, country music star Kenny Chesney live at Van Andel Arena on May 6, according to ASM Global.

Organizers say those who donate can also enter to win a family four-pack of tickets to a Griffins game. Winners will be picked at random March 20 at 8 a.m. and via email.

Kenny Chesney is well-known for strongly supporting animals and dogs,” Carpenter told MLive/Grand Rapids Press. “We thought it would be a great tie-in with Dog Week.”

The vibrant powerhouse trio known as The Winery Dogs will kick off Dog Week at DeVos Performance Hall on Monday, March 13, from 6-7 p.m. ahead of the electrifying “PAW Patrol Live! Heroes Unite” March 14-15 at 6 p.m.

At the end of the week, the community can join the Humane Society of West Michigan for the Paws, Claws & Corks fundraising event March 15 at DeVos Place. It will be filled with silent and live auctions, local restaurants and a celebration of the Humane Society’s work.

Additionally, ASM Global is inviting individuals and families to bring their furry friends to a tail-waggin’ Grand Rapids Griffins game at Van Andel Arena on March 19.

The Griffins play the Milwaukee Admirals at 5 p.m., and dogs and people alike are welcome to sit in the lower level sections 110, 112, 114, 116, 118, and 120.

Patrons can purchase tickets to all events by visiting the DeVos Performance Hall website or the DeVos Place website.

“We just hope the community will come out and support the great cause and enjoy some fantastic events that we have to offer at DeVos Performance Hall, DeVos Place and Van Andel Arena,” Carpenter said.

Those interested in donating can drop off supplies at the Humane Society of West Michigan table in the Van Andel Arena lobby before attending the Griffins Dog Game. Donations will also be accepted at the Humane Society of West Michigan, 3077 Wilson Dr. NW in Grand Rapids.
